New Zealand Opera Trio SOL3 MIO has today debuted at #1 on New Zealand’s national album chart. The self-titled debut release clocks one of the biggest sales weeks of the year and has been certified Gold after just one week of release.

Comprised of two tenor brothers, Pene and Amitai Pati and their baritone cousin Moses Mackay, SOL3 MIO is the combination of three powerful and moving operatic voices, with a dash of irrepressible Samoan humour.

The Samoan New Zealand trio are quickly establishing an international reputation.  Having recently returned from Wales, where they studied at the exclusive Welsh International Academy Of Voice under the tutelage of world-renowned tenor Dennis O’Neill, the world’s ears are now standing at attention.

Classically trained, but contemporary influenced, Pene, Amitai, and Moses captured the hearts of New Zealanders in late 2012 when they appeared on national television.  They then went on to perform sell out concerts as SOL3 MIO to raise funds to attend the exclusive school, in the process winning themselves rave reviews for their extraordinary voices, comic timing, and fun filled shows.

Amidst all that excitement, the group signed to Universal Music and recorded their self-titled debut album in London with award winning producer Nick Patrick (Katherine Jenkins, Hayley Westenra, Russell Watson).  The stunning album, which is released on the Decca Black label, features opera classics, modern surprises and of course the soaring voices and emotional harmonies that make up the unique sound of SOL3 MIO.
