Meet the women of the New Zealand Olympic Winter Team who will be competing in Sochi, Russia from 7 – 23 February 2014. These eight ladies are part of a fifteen strong team and will represent New Zealand in the adrenaline-filled sports of freeski, snowboard and skeleton. Today we profile Snowboarder, Christy Prior.

Discipline: Snowboard Slopestyle
About: Christy is currently ranked seventh in the world for women’s snowboard slopestyle and recently won a world cup gold medal. She has enjoyed a rapid rise to success having only taken up the sport at the age of 17. She spent her early days learning to ride at Snowplanet’s indoor facility in Auckland.
Christy won the 2013 Snow Sports NZ Snowboard Athlete of the Year award and was nominated for the Breakthrough Season award.
When she is not on the snow Christy enjoys art and yoga and, naturally, has a strong interest in health and fitness.
