With Christmas, summer and the holidays, come parties and entertaining. This means lots of plates and platters to prepare. Gregg’s Freestyle Cooking Spokesperson, Alison Robert, has some delicious ideas to spice up the party, and some tasty tips and tricks on what to do with all those leftovers.

Alison, a top chef with over 16 years experience, says embracing Freestyle Cooking is all about learning to trust your own taste buds, being adventurous in the kitchen, and tasting your food as you cook. Throw in some Gregg’s Herbs & Spices, taste and try again until delicious!

So go on, get inspired, put your personality into your platters and try something a little different (and super tasty) this summer.

Good ol’ Garlic

Why not make a batch of garlic butter ready to take away or to a party? Soften butter to room temperature, stir in Gregg’s Crushed Garlic, Salt and Pepper, a handful of Gregg’s Parsley and spice it up with some Gregg’s Chilli Seasoning.

Use the garlic butter to slather on hot crusty bread, as a dip to spread on toasted pita bread and dollop onto hot baked potatoes for a tasty lunch.

Finger Food Themes

Throwing a party? Take the stress out of fancy finger foods and set a food theme such as Mexican, seafood or vegetarian. This will help focus your efforts and save you money on ingredients and time in the kitchen. Gregg’s have a great range of seasonings, herbs & spices for any food genre, so just decide on your style and go for gold!

How about preparing a range of vegetarian rice paper rolls, with different fillings & different seasonings, for example, mung bean, carrot & cucumber topped off with Chilli & Lime Seasoning?

Bake Off

Get your office in the party spirit this year and organize a ‘Bake Off’. Give everyone a pack of Gregg’s Cinnamon or Gregg’s Mixed Spice to work their magic with and reap the morning tea benefits.

Dinner Party Day-olds

The day after a dinner party, tackle leftovers with a fresh new taste. Turn pasta salads into a frittata by adding eggs, some Gregg’s Crushed Garlic and your favourite Gregg’s herbs - try Tuscan or Cajun Seasoning or Italian Herbs . Bake in the oven until cooked through.

No Porkies

And what about all that ham? Alison’s Mum always serves leftover Christmas ham cold & sliced with parsley sauce and a new potato salad. Make your own easy parsley sauce with butter, milk, flour, wholegrain mustard and lots of Gregg’s Parsley, salt and pepper. For a flavour boost, jazz up your potato salad with some Gregg’s Thyme and Crushed Garlic.
