Since the launch of the inaugural Abu Dhabi International Triathlon (ADIT), the event is off to a fantastic start and has caught the headlines and imagination of the global triathlon community. Organisers are thrilled to announce that over 300 athletes from 25 countries have already registered for what promises to be one of the crown jewels of the triathlon world.

The adrenaline-pumping event, which is aimed at attracting up to a 1,000 triathletes, including 40 of the world’s top professionals, boasts a testing 223km ‘pure power’ course and will mark the debut of a race of this length. The route has been specially designed to encapsulate the famous landmarks of Abu Dhabi city. A second 111.5kms route, which can be run as a team relay event, is also available, with both distances open to elites and amateurs.

“We are highly encouraged with the tremendous interest we have had from both amateur and professional athletes alike and we want to see as many of them as possible in Abu Dhabi come March 13th 2010. The event promises to be a landmark in the Triathlon calendar and its genuine international appeal will unite triathletes from around the world at one of the most breathtaking venues imaginable”, said Jon Hazan, ADIT’s Operations Director.

Some 1,000 places are available for the first ADIT, charged at US$150 for the long-distance and US$96 for the shorter event prior to 31st December 2009. Prices from 1st January 2010 will be US$180 and US$123 for the long and short distances respectively.

Both age group and professional athletes wishing to enter the race should visit www.abudhabitriathlon.com to enquire about and secure their race entry.

Announcements on the participation of professional athletes competing will be displayed on the ADIT website over the coming weeks, where prospective entrants can view full details of the course map.
