Greg Bennett, the former world number one triathlete, who has today announced his switch of national allegiances from Australia to United States, has also been confirmed as the latest athlete signing by blueseventy.

The 38 year old veteran of 26 ITU World Cup podium finishes, will be sponsored by blueseventy with immediate effect as part of his new triathlon chapter representing the USA.

Primarily focused on the US non-drafting series, Bennett had a good start to the season with second at the competitive St Anthony’s Triathlon in Florida in April. He continues to feature at ITU World Championship Series events and has been a winner on the Ironman 70.3 circuit.

As a podium finisher at almost every major non-drafting event, Bennett will be an excellent ambassador for blueseventy, and being strong across all three disciplines he will make an impact on the swim. He will benefit from blueseventy’s market leading wetsuit and swimskin technology, as well as the super-light carbon goggles.

Bennett is married to US triathlete Laura Bennett and the couple are based full time in Boulder, Colorado. He was 4th in the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, the highest ever finishing position by an Australian male triathlete, and Laura finished in exactly the same position in Beijing in 2008.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Dean Jackson of blueseventy said: “Greg is hugely experienced and respected. We’re delighted to be working with and look forward to nurturing a long term relationship with Greg. We value him as an ambassador and advisor on our products as we continually look to improve and innovate through detailed athlete feedback and analysis.”

Greg’s 2010 race schedule includes an appearance at the Dextro Energy ITU Triathlon World Championships Series Kitzbuhel in Austria, but he will also target further success in Ironman70.3 events. He will also return to the Lifetime Fitness series, where he achieved the Grand Slam of all five victories in 2007 and won the single largest pay cheque in triathlon history.
