New Zealand’s Men’s Ski Team will get an extra boost this winter thanks to a high energy sponsorship deal with New Zealand icon Cookie Time.

Cookie Time’s 'One Square Meal’ bars will power New Zealand’s top ski racing athletes throughout the 2010 winter season.

The team, comprising Ben Griffin, Tim Cafe, Andrew Wylie, Finlay Neeson, Harrison Steedman, and Nick and Jamie Prebble, is training and racing in slalom, giant slalom and super-G events at Coronet Peak and Mt Hutt over winter before heading to Europe for five months. The team aims to compete in the 2011 World Alpine Ski Championships in Garmish, Germany, and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia.

NZ ski racing men’s team coach Nils Coberger is delighted with the sponsorship and says it’s the perfect marriage for both organisations.

“We’re all about a healthy, active outdoor lifestyle so balanced nutrition is a vitally important component of our team’s success,” he says.

“Cookie Time’s One Square Meal is great sustaining food on the go that helps give our athletes the energy they need to train and perform at a world-class level all day.

“And because they’re so tasty, the athletes have no problems wolfing them down!”

One Square Meal, billed by Cookie Time as “the ultimate food”, has already been recognised as the high energy bar of choice by some of New Zealand’s top athletes including Olympic gold medal triathlete Hamish Carter, world champion adventure racer Marcel Hagener and the New Zealand Women's Water Polo Team.

Cookie Time’s Lincoln Booth, general manager of the innovative 100% Kiwi-owned and operated company, believes no other product comes close to it.

“We spent two years refining and perfecting the recipe until it was a 'nutritional masterpiece'.

“As part of our research and development process we searched the world for similar products, and surprisingly, nothing was found to rival One Square Meal in terms of nutritional balance.

“We’re delighted to be able to help our Men’s National Ski Team in any way we can to achieve their goals. Hopefully One Square Meal will be a key ingredient in their recipe for success.”

One Square Meal uses natural ingredients such as manuka honey, rolled oats, dried apricots and berries, and provides one third of the recommended daily intake of key nutrients - a full meal's worth. It’s available in two flavours - Apricot with Manuka Honey and Cranberry with Blackcurrant. One Square Meal contains real fruit, is low GI, has zero trans fats, no artificial colours or flavours, no refined cane sugar, is peanut free and uses non GM soy protein.
