The 22nd Craigs Investment Partners Tinman Triathlon returns to start the season on Sunday the 5th of December at Pilot Bay, Mount Maunganui. Sport Bay of Plenty are delighted to welcome back Craigs Investment Partners as principal sponsor with the continued support of Powerade, Blue Seventy, Avanti and Rudy Project.

The event will include the Standard and Sprint distances, available for individuals and teams - a great opportunity for all abilities to get involved with the sport. The Craigs Corporate Challenge is also back with corporate teams from the Bay and beyond invited to take the challenge and participate in the Sprint Teams event for the Craigs Corporate Trophy – won in its inaugural year by KPMG Tauranga.

As acknowledgment for their second year of support, Craigs Investment Partners have announced a one year cash injection to the prize purse – their commitment has enabled Sport Bay of Plenty to offer $1000 for both the men’s and women’s winners and also increase the prize purse to 5th place for the 2010 event.

“We look forward to attracting both a competitive and a social field this year. Triathlon is a fast growing sport and we see this event as a great way to encourage our staff, clients and business associates to work on healthier lifestyle” said Hamish Coleman, Craigs Investment Partners Tauranga Branch Manager.

The increased prize money cements the Tinman Triathlon as one of the main races on the calendar for top New Zealand athletes at the Standard Distance. Past winners James and Mark Bowstead and the current Port of Tauranga Champion Michael Poole having already committed to this year’s race and this announcement will no doubt lead to more interest in the top end of the race.

“Sport Bay of Plenty is delighted with the injection of prize money from Craigs Investment Partners as a draw card feature to this iconic event. We are excited about the attraction this offers to elite competitors and look forward to a strong and competitive field this year” Sport Bay of Plenty’s Commercial Manager Stephen Murray states.
